It can lead to a corrupted system, a loss of data, or even identity theft.\u00a0<br \/>\nApart from that it&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>stealing<\/strong>! (from microsoft)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">[Unwitting User] &#8220;I bought a computer\u00a0with windows software already installed but now when\u00a0I turn it on it tells me\u00a0the software is not genuine and\u00a0I am no longer elegible for security updates from microsoft.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">[Bonza] &#8220;Where did you get your pc?\u00a0\u00a0You&#8217;ve been ripped off go back to them and demand a refund!&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Do\u00a0you have genuine software?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Check it! Somewhere on your tower or computer case there should be a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) sticker which proves your copy of Windows is genuine.\u00a0 Along with the sticker you should have an original Windows CD which should match the COA. A COA is not a software license \u2013 it is a visual identifier that assists in determining whether or not the Microsoft software you are running is genuine. However, without it, you will not have a legal license to run Microsoft software.
