Probably 50% of us do; 50% DO NOT!<\/span><\/h3>\n

Every time you forward an e-mail there are e-mail addresses & names left over from the people who got the message before you. As the messages get forwarded the list of addresses builds, and builds, and builds, and all it takes is for one<\/em> <\/strong>person to get a virus, and their computer can send that virus to every e-mail address that has come across their computer.<\/p>\n

And you wonder why you get viruses and junk mail!<\/span><\/h4>\n

How do you stop it?<\/span><\/h2>\n

1. When you forward an e-mail, DELETE<\/strong> all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top).You can delete the information by highlighting all the addresses and then hitting your delete key.\u00a0Or backspace to erase them or cut them. It only takes a few seconds.<\/p>\n

Before you can delete them you MUST click the “Forward” button first\u00a0to enable\u00a0editing of\u00a0the body and headers of the message. If you don’t click on “Forward” first, you won’t be able to edit the message at all.<\/p>\n

2. Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the To: or Cc: fields for adding e-mail addresses. Always use the BCC: (blind carbon copy) field instead.<\/p>\n

The people you send to will only see their own e-mail address.<\/p>\n

When you send to BCC: your message will automatically say “Undisclosed Recipients” <\/em>in the “TO:” field of the people who receive it.<\/p>\n

Remove the “FW:” in the subject line. You can re-name the subject if you want.<\/p>\n

3. Do you ever receive petitions? A professional spammer can make a few dollars from a completed petition with valid names and email addresses. If it\u2019s something you really want to support, it\u2019s better to send your own personal email to the organisation directly.<\/p>\n

4. Those chain letters threatening all kinds of bad luck if you don\u2019t forward\u00a0them\u00a0SHOULD BE DELETED!\u00a0So should the ones promising nice things will happen in\u00a04 days if you forward it to at least 10 people. Imagine how many thousands of emails they\u00a0collect!<\/p>\n

Whatever the promise \/warning, IT’S NOT GOING TO\u00a0 HAPPEN!!!!!<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5. Virus Alerts too; most of them are junk emails that have\u00a0been circling around the internet for YEARS! <\/span><\/p>\n
