Working on\u00a0computers seems\u00a0pretty harmless\u00a0when in fact\u00a0computing\u00a0has a monster <\/strong>carbon footprint. \u00a0We\u00a0computer users\u00a0are contributing to nearly 2.7 percent of Australia\u2019s total carbon emissions and more than 7 percent of total energy consumption in Australia. Computing and telecommunication devices use large amounts of energy adding substantially to greenhouse gas emissions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere has been little attempt to measure or to estimate the total energy consumption or carbon footprint caused by the usage of ICT equipment, in Australia or internationally\u201d. Source: The Australian Computer Society (ACS)<\/a>\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n
