The iPad is Brilliant!
Published January 8th, 2011 by Roslyn Garavaglia

Apple’s iPad runaway success has other manufacturers falling over themselves to launch a similar tablet device. Meanwhile Apple has been developing iPad 2 which is just about to be launched.

Here we go! Too many choices in our lives have us completely bamboozled when making a buying decision on most things, not just technology.

I took my iPad for a test drive during the holidays in different locations and environments, sparking curiosity from all. We convinced one business to get their own, helped a client sync theirs and there’s at least one very jealous man,Trev, wanting one. Bonza is not an Apple Reseller.

With the push of a button in one second I have instant 3G access to the net!

I have my current working documents, spreadsheets, pdf’s, and presentations with me to work on, create, edit and share. By the time you turn your notebook or netbook on, wait for it to load, plug in your 3G card, wait for that to connect; I have already read and answered my emails and moved onto the next task! Sending emails is a breeze and I’m writing this post from my iPad synced to the Bonza Blog. I tweet and add my two bits to Facebook and other social media.

Lightweight and being only a half inch thick, I throw my iPad into my sachel bag and I’m off to the next meeting. Everything is at my fingertips anywhere and any time. It is not a geeky gadget, it’s a very good work tool if you’re out and about conducting business.

Selecting the right apps will turn yours into the ultimate business tool too. Use it as a word processor, GPS, a diagram tool, a Power Point presenter, showcase images of your products and countless other things. Search the internet, work on files, make student notes.

What are the Best Apps? There are thousands available. Here’s what I think are essential.

Evernote: Keeps notes organised, synced and available on your iPad or any PC.

Keynote: Import, edit and present Power Point slides or start from scratch with in-built templates. It’s possible to connect your iPad to a VGA cable to give presentations straight from the device. Downside: You can’t export ppt files from the device.

Omnigraffle: Forget drawing on napkins, record your ideas on your iPad. Create diagrams, make notes, layer ideas, annotate, export your ideas as a PDF or a PNG image.

Dragon Diction: When you can’t type fast enough to get your thoughts down, use this app to speak them and it will transcribe it. You have to speak clearly and any errors are pretty minor. It transcribes instantly.

SplashID: Safely store passwords and confidential documents and notes. This database app protects details with 256-bit Blowfish encryption. If you lose your iPad your data cannot be recovered by anyone else.

I’m also using;

Pages
Tweetdeck
Goodreader
Feeddler RSS Reader for iPad
iBooks
SOLITARE OF COURSE!

If you subscribe to magazines, you can join Zinio and read them on your iPad, it’s cheaper.
I’m sure I’ll have way too many apps eventually, and only use 10%. Luckily, you can create folders and dock your most used apps.

It’s an incredible device, leaving big chunky desktops looking like dinosaurs. I can type faster on the iPad keyboard, I can flick through my files with a light touch, it’s so civilised! I can go outside into the fresh air to work, snuggle into the couch or work from my bed!

No more hours slouched over a desk, which everyone knows, shapes your body into Neanderthal Man.

If you need help with setting up Your iPad give us a hoy.
