Proactive or Reactive IT Support?
Published March 11th, 2010 by Roslyn Garavaglia

“I could knit a scarf in the time it takes my computer to fire up!”

Even if your computer has the best RAM and the fastest processor, chances are the system will still run slower than normal if you don’t maintain it.

We’ve already discussed the causes of sluggish computer performance and why maintenance is important. e.g. Computer viruses, Windows Registry problems, full hard drives, Windows OS problems, disk clean up and disk defrag, not enough memory, limiting your startup applications, clearing temporary files… etc. etc.  See  Tune up your computer or Regular Maintenance posts.

WHAT IF YOUR SETUP IS JUST NOT SUITABLE or YOU’VE OUTGROWN IT?

Buying off-the-shelf systems might do the job in the short term, but most businesses (and home users) should have their IT systems designed with the immediate and future end use in mind. Do you have the right tools for the job?

A cohesive approach to understanding your business and customising an IT technology plan will make a difference.
Your Bonza technician will tell you if he thinks you don’t have the most optimum system in place and will advise the best course of action, keeping your budgetary constraints in mind.

YOU WILL STILL ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS!
No one has time to update applications, drivers, operating systems or software. The network is cobbled together with cables strung across the floor, and you’re not sure when the last backup really ran. Then, your hard drive starts going click-click. You suddenly realize to your horror no backups have been done in the last month and the hard drive is about to die. Losing data will be disastrous!

You call that guy you occasionally use for computer support services to put the fire out. You get a call back four hours later telling you they can come, but not today, it will have to be tomorrow or possibly Monday.

WHAT’S BEST,  PUTTING FIRES OUT, OR PREVENTING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE? The approach of most computer users and small organizations is putting out fires!

What you need is a PROACTIVE SERVICE not a REACTIVE SERVICE. Regular, ongoing maintenance is the key to avoiding systems failure.

•           regular maintenance for computers and servers

•           installation of software updates

•           on-call service for software or hardware failure

•           remote monitoring of the network to troubleshoot issues

•           staff training on updated systems.

In other words a computer technology “partner” who doesn’t take your IT technical issues lightly.

So don’t wait until there’s a problem.
Ask your Bonza technician how we can save you time and money by keeping your IT systems running at full speed with managed services.
Entering into a computer service agreement isn’t a one-size-fits-all. With an understanding of your unique requirements, a service agreement is drawn up and regular maintenance procedures scheduled just for you.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
By “partnering” with Bonza technology services, you’ll reduce downtime, increase efficiency and save money.

Choosing the right technology and the right support directly impacts your productivity, your flexibility, and your bottom line.
